How to Choose a Local Solar Installer in the White Mountains: 5 Questions to Ask Before You Sign

September 30, 2026•4 min read

Thunderstorms knocked out power for about 5,600 APS customers in the West Valley on Thursday, September 24. Most were back on by 10 a.m. Now picture the same storm over your cabin in the White Mountains and ask one question. Who is your solar installer, and how far away are they?

Why a Local Solar Installer in the White Mountains Matters

Solar is not a one-day purchase. The install is day one. The years after are when you need someone to pick up the phone, drive out and fix it. That is the difference between a local solar installer in the White Mountains and a sales office hours away.

Rural homes feel outages and rate hikes first. Power lines run long. Well pumps stop when the grid drops. APS has asked for a 14 percent residential increase, about $20 more a month for a typical household, and a decision is expected toward the end of this year. More Show Low homeowners are looking at solar because of it. That is smart. Just buy it from someone who lives here.

5 Questions to Ask Any Solar Company Before You Sign

1. Where are your shop and your crew based?

Ask for a street address. Ours is 1801 E. Deuce of Clubs in Show Low. If the crew drives in from another city for every visit, expect delays and extra fees when something needs service.

2. Is the quote itemized and in writing?

A real quote lists every part: inverters, batteries, panels, wire, fuses, breakers and the AC panel. If you get one number and a handshake, ask for the parts list. Then compare it line by line.

3. What is included in the price?

Wiring, fuses and breakers add up fast. Ask what is in the price and what is extra. Our kit prices spell out what is included, so you know exactly what you are paying for.

4. Who services it after the install?

Ask who you call on a cold January night when the display shows a fault. Batteries, inverters and programming all need support. We handle service and maintenance from Show Low.

5. Will they show you their work, or talk about other shops?

Good installers show photos of finished jobs and explain the design. Be careful with anyone who spends the meeting running down other companies. Ask them to put their plan on paper, then compare.

Solar Made Easy: Pre-Built Kits Save Time and Money

Here is where we are different. White Mountains Solar builds pre-built solar kits in our Show Low shop. Every kit is wired, pre-programmed and pre-tested before it leaves. If you can follow a wiring diagram and mount panels, you can install it yourself and keep the labor cost. Minimal install experience is needed.

Our range runs from small starter kits to whole-home 24kW systems. We sell new and used panels for a lower entry price, and hybrid inverters for the more technical DIYer. $0-down financing is available.

Prefer to Skip the Ladder? We Install and Maintain, Too

Not everyone wants to DIY, and that is fine. Our crew installs your system and stays for future service and maintenance. We are licensed and insured (ROC 297633). You get a local team, not a call center.

Got a Quote? Bring It In

Already have a written quote from another company? Contact us and bring it by. We will go through it line by line and match it on comparable equipment. You get a fair price and a local crew behind it.
